The lack of nuance and contextual depth you have shown in this particular email is deeply upsetting and unlike any of the others you have sent on any other issue (and I support Palestinian rights and have been an advocate on this issue). And yet you ask us to hold complexity and nuance. It’s just weird.

I love you. To address colonialism and genocide in Gaza, the US would have to address its history of...colonialism and genocide. That's what makes this "difficult" because hypocrisy is just that.

Hey! I did not know you were on Substack, and just found you today! I'm so glad you are here. Being an anti-zionist Jew, I appreciate your clear and concise explanation of what is really happening right now. I've been spending most of my interactive time the past two weeks on trying to explain to people that "Judaism" and "Israel" are not synonyms. Contrary to popular belief, criticizing Israel is NOT automatically antisemitic, modern day Zionism ideology is NOT about religion or safe harbor, and condemning the ongoing occupation of Palestine and genocide of Palestinians is NOT a "celebration" of, or disregard for, the violence suffered by Israeli citizens. I had relatives who died in pogroms and the Holocaust. I know how the legacy of that reverberates still. The centuries of persecution of Jews has been harsh and real. And... it is possible to acknowledge and honor that without using our past victimization as an excuse to victimize others. We can do better, and we must, lest we become the monsters who terrorized our ancestors.

Poorly researched and written because , oh yeah, you are neither a journalist nor expert on this highly complex and sensitive topic. You could have said the word “pogrom” as easily as you have misused the word “apartheid.”
